Special Effects Design

 

River Water Effects.

 

This is a prototype of the water effects used in Ratatouille. The solution uses a combination of animated normal maps, animated UV maps, a water shader and raindrop particles. Of note: the sequence is a playblast and is not rendered; each frame is updated in real-time using a MEL script to simulate an in-game render pass.
